POSITION: RN Educator/Infection Control Designate
START DATE: November 1, 2021 to cover Maternity Leave to December 2022
HOURS OF WORK: Temporary 0.8 FTE with Additional Casual Hours during COVID
QUALIFICATIONS: Current CARNA Permit to Practice: BSN. Gerontology and Adult Education Principles certificates preferred. Computer skills with Power Point, Excel, Word. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties fall within the scope of the Allen Gray’s Mission, Values and Policies, working full scope of practice reporting to the Director of Care, the educator leads the delivery process to ensure that accreditation and provincial standards are met; will provide coaching, feedback, and direction to staff in the delivery of standards and will participate in the review and recommend changes to current and developing policies and procedures and educational materials.
Acts as Infection/Prevention & Control designate including pandemic planning, flu season campaign and staff and resident immunization. Facilitate student placements. Participate in monthly codes with OH&S and Maintenance. Collaborate with vendors, Respiratory Therapists and AHS educators to organize education sessions. General Orientation. Hand hygiene, PPE Audits.
Candidate is familiar with processes used by AHS and Alberta Health for management of COVID-19 including ordering vaccines from AB Health and leading the team to swab residents and staff correctly, providing education on COVID and acting as the 'go to' person for the latest information and recommendations. Candidate must be prepared to provide emergency service as needed during outbreak including additional support for staff and residents during COVID outbreak.
