 ADULT DAY SUPPORT Program Assistant Volunteer

​

We are in need of an ADSP Assistant  Volunteer During Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:45 am - 3:00 PM.

Duties Include:

• Participating in planning and implementation of activities (e.g. baking, crafts, discussion groups, exercises, games, bingo, movie, gardening, special meals, special events, bowling, sing-a-long, etc. )

• Initiating and encouraging participation in activities

• Supporting, encouraging and valuing clients/residents. It may include inviting and porter clients/residents as well as set up and clean- up of the activity area.

Required Skills: 

• Good communication skills

• Patient, flexible, desire to assist, encouraging and supporting

• Interest in elderly/disabled persons

• Physically able to porter and participate in program

• Reliable team player, ability to follow directions

Friendly Visitor

To provide social interaction and friendly support to residents Mornings/afternoons/evenings 7 days/week

​

Cantonese Speaking Friendly Visitor 

The Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre's Volunteer Services is in need of a Cantonese Speaking Friendly Visitor.

​

This is an ongoing, weekly volunteer position, where you will be assigned to a specific resident. You will engage in simple activities like conversation about current events , reading, encouraging the resident to participate with the facility's Recreation Scheduled Activity so that the resident can utilize their social and communication skills. 

​

A commitment of 30 mins to an hour per week is requested. A Clear understanding of privacy and confidentiality is a must.
